As part of the Maine Coon Fancy, Healthy Maine Coon Initiative, all members should try to use our Pre Adoption Check List every time they get a new MC. It is about time we become proactive on this concerning issue rather than patting members on the back after their cat has encountered a health issue. One that could have been prevented by such a check list.

Upon filling out the check list, we urge members to visit the health section of our forum to discuss their answers. Remember, there are many breeders out there and you don't have to "settle".

Squee Happy!!!! I love all the work you've done!
How do I enter Squirrel into DNA testing raffle?
I know the adoption check list is a little late with a rescue, but I cant wait to see how many things I can tick off. ;-)
P.S. Great work, way to go you! (it takes A LOT of work to keep a forum running!!!)

Thanx for appreciating the Healthy Maine Coon Initiative. The sweepstakes will be listed either at or shortly after the start of Maine Coon health month (Oct 1). I wanted to get an early start on the checklist though. Sort of a warm up into the months events. :)

Candes, I was looking at your photo albums and thing Squirrel looks just like teddy bear, only squirrel is more grey/black while your Ted is tan/black. <3

And I fear that I might be slipping into the realm of the "crazy cat lady" - I'm completely obsessed with Maine Coons! :-)

What a great resource! I'll be sure to use this information when choosing my next kitten (hopefully this spring). Thank you for putting this together!

Amy
