I purchased a beautiful black Maine Coon from DreamCoon Cattery in Richmond, Virginia and from day 1 he has had chronic, bloody diarrhea - I have tried EVERYTHING - over $2k in vet bills - raw diet - probiotics, etc. etc.  NOTHING works!!

Has anyone every experienced this?

I am getting no response from the breeder and the vets can't seem to find a cure ....

HELP :(

Take the kitty to a veterinary school clinic. They should be able to tell you what is going on. There are also advanced treatment veterinary clinics (or Med Vet) where they have better capabilities than most veterinary practices.

HELP :(

We bought a female from them about 1 yr ago and had the same problem you are experiencing. Our Vet was no help as they had very little experience with Maine Coons. I was fortunate to find a Cat only Vet in Frederick Md. The new Vet put her on a probotic and a wetfood diet of poultry the diarrhea cleared up in about 3 weeks. I have continued with the poultry diet here is a picture of her she is 17 months oldIMG_1158.PNG

I can't help you exactly with that cattery, however I do have a DSH who has had bouts of bloody diarrhea on and off. Initially bouts were treated with a course of Flagyl. This got things started. We then trialed a hypoallergenic diet and when she'd been stable for 3 months we slowly added in other foods. One at a time, for at least a month at a time to see how it went. Some ended in disaster and another course of flagyl (metrogyl) but others remained in rotation. It's taken about a year but we've had her stabilized (touch wood) for about 5 months now.

Has the vet done a full fecal float to check for everything?

No giardia in the stool sample? We are having the same problem but 10 days on antibiotics and a pro biotic hasn't helped yet

our girl has an allergy to beef, removed that from her diet and switched her to a high quality grain free diet and her diarrhea cleared up.
